Treasure Island

Whenever i am stuck somewhere i think what will Baani do if she is in my place! Many days i ask her to make choices for me, check me when i am not following my own rules. More than all this she inspires me when it comes to doing original art work. Her way of looking at things, her vision and thinking is totally untouched by standard standards. I feel she is my anchor. This is collection of her artwork from my camera view. While i clicked she was narrating story, which was mix of her present thoughts and her ideas when she made this canvas. All the pics are part of one story. Different stories going on in one moment in different planes of time. Transcendence.

Here it goes..

Treasure chest.. It has all the secrets.. very precious..
(And she got so many of them with all her treasures of
loom bands and coins and stones and shells)

Nest.. with an egg..
(Must be a big bird, i thought. Guess which one came in my mind.. Jatayu!)

Rainbow with droplets of water..Blobs (Play of light and shadow.. )
Boat in big waves (and rest are rocks in ocean..they must be on ocean floor..
or she imagine them floating! i wonder!)
Castle.. in middle of huge black mountains..
(Must be of one of her Arabian princess)
Butterfly in all her splendour
Spider heart within the heart.. (or the webbed heart)

Expressions

Her expression in art is devoid of any pretence.. or fake beautification .. There is no effort to please..No fear of being judged... Its pure.. Just pours out of her the way it is.. Un-corrupted heart.. Untouched by the ugliness of life..
Two dancers doing bharatnatyam..

Gluey leaf..

Peacock..

Curtain of rain hiding a yellow flower..

Strokes of Life!

One of the sunny days she decides to put on colors on canvas.

After touching both smooth and rough , she choose rough surface. I know its gonna be fantastic creation. Rough patches bring out the best in us.

When it come to choosing colors, all were included - red, blue, green, yellow, except black and white. Nothing exists in black and white here. We are in shades of grey. Sometimes good, sometimes bad.. sometimes happy , sometimes sad!

Two brushes - no 2 and no 12, one for broad strokes and one to put details. Like in monotonous broad years some days - bdays and anniversaries, some people- close and not so close to heart, add details. Some stand out like red dot in blue flower!

There comes the chaotic thoughts and careless days, and random nights.

She pauses in between and just look at it. One stroke hard, other adding flair.. lil more water for those trickling moments.. lil more color for those when clock stopped ticking!

She wud never look up.. not for my clicking sounds.. not for my approval. Life never stops. We get stuck in past or keep living in future. It just goes on. Not bothered she creates her masterpiece!

Pretty Aliens

The festival season at its full.. Me and Baani took Mr Maker's help to make day more entertaining and did something alien!

The material required is : Plastic spoons from last take away order and pipe cleaners.. and rest is our normal art supply - colors, glue, googly eyes, clay, and last but not least - anything chamkila or sequins for decorations, Baani's fav part!

Mr Maker took colored spoons but we believe in increasing the time to finish one art project so we took transparent spoons.. Baani colored them with her fav green and pink acrylic colors! Believe me, painting spoons is very therapeutic for me and Baani...She takes her own time perfecting the color and got totally transported to other world doing it..While i finished reading almost four chapters of my book and clicked several pictures in the meanwhile!!

Googly eyes are the most interesting of art material.. it suddenly turns the spoon or cotton ball or anything into a funny face! And then u can be at your creative best with these thin, fat, fluffy, bristly brush cleaners. Rolling them around the neck of spoon and we get alien arms.. i suggested Baani to make more than two arms and different sizes arms, and she starts her questioning spree - why does aliens have more arms, why does octopus have 8 arms, why different colors, why birds flap wings...and so on...  i thought better to keep my mouth shut!

Aliens are ready except that we like our aliens to be dressy and lil decorated.. So put on glittery glue or the colored stones..whatever is more messy, more time consuming! :)

Make as many as u want..as many colors...keep them together or separate..or use as puppets to make stories!

Rain sound maker

Usually we start our creative endeavors in summer vacations.. But this year its already on.. lets see how much madness we can create..
Our first creation is really interesting..."rain sound maker"

All we need is empty toilet paper rolls, toothpicks and some glue/paper/colors and scissors and yes one more thing - small stones (from roadside or construction site near ur house) .. Started by making random holes on rolls, insert newspaper to avoid crushing with extra force u need to apply sometimes!

Then asked Baani to insert toothpicks, which she loved doing.. it's same as tumbling monkeys game.. we did it with three rolls.. then to make big tower i joined all three with cello tape.. next is the fun part, which means doing some gooey sticky stuff with fingers!
Mix equal amount of fevicol and water..cut lots of newspaper into small pieces with scissors..when Baani got bored from scissors  then tearing started, and we had good lot of newspaper bits...add them to the fevicol water 'syrup'..mix with fingers..its really fun..if possible try doing it on floor! Then Baani and me put the whole mixture on Toothpick-roll tower..
Now it has to be left for drying.. and.. now Baani was also more keen on pulling dried fevicol from her hands than in rain sound maker!

Next day instead of going to school she wanted to complete her project! So fatafat she covered the messy looking tower with newspaper for cleaner look..Satisfied with her performance she agreed to goto school..
We collected small stones while on our way back from school. Baani poured them in tower and i closed it with cardboard from both sides..
Tower, when moving, was already making nice rain sound..
Next was the most interesting part for me..decorating the tower, and Baani is perfect at art work!
As usual she selected pink paper...water colors..different shape stamps - heart, butterfly.. she was instructing me too..so we both worked on our sheets..

 Detailing after the stamping..
 Take a Roohafzaa paani break!!
After adding glitter detailing and flower sequins she was happy with her work!!
Then we covered our tower with this art piece...

Voila...we have done it!! Keep turning it upside down or rolling it over..stones falling on toothpicks make sound as if its pouring outside..
Now every morning Baani use this to wake up Pawan!
Whatta sound to wake up to - Pouring Rain!!
